Sri Kanipakam Temple

Location

The historic temple is located in village town of Kanipaakam in Irala Mandal, Chittor District. It is about 11Kms from Chittor town and 70Kms from Tirupati.

There are rooms run by Kanipakaa Devasthanam and also Tirumala Tirupati Devastanam(TTD).

Temlple history:

Kanipakam is a Hindu temple for the god Ganesha located in Irala mandal of Chittoor district, Andra Pradesh in South India. It was constructed in the 11th century CE by the Chola king Kulothunga Chola I and was expanded further in 1336 by the Emperors of Vijayanagara. Local legends claim that the idol of Ganesha continuously grows in size.

  • Binduteerthaabishekham (4:30 AM to 5.45 AM)
  • Paalabhishekam(7:30 AM to 8:00 AM)
  • SankataHaraGanapati Vratham(9:00 AM to 12:00 Noon)
  • Special Abhishekam(9:00 AM to 10:00 AM & 11:00 AM to 12:00Noon)
  • The Pavalimpu Seva (Ekantha Seva) is conducted between 9:00 PM to 9:30 PM

Kanipakam Brahmotsavams:

The Bhramotsavams Festival will be conducted once in a year for 21days which will be in the months of August/september of every year. During this festive season ,Lord Ganesh will appear in different avataras these include

  • Gramotsavam
  • Hamsa Vahanam
  • Peacock Vahanam
  • Mooshika Vahanam
  • Shasha Vahanam
  • Vrishabha Vahanam
  • Gaja Vahanam, Rathotsavam(in which the Lord ascends a traditional Chariot)
