Twin Cities - Hyderabad & Secunderabad

Hyderabad is the capital city of Andhra Pradesh since its formation on 1st November 1956. This city has a twin, Secunderabad which was developed during the british regime. Both the cities are separated by Hussain Sagar lake, which today is in the middle of the city. Hyderabad's history dates back to 500 years when the then nawab Mohammad Quli Qutub Shah who founded the city and named it Bhagyanagar after his lady love. The name later was changed to Hyderabad after the nawabs lady love converted to Islam.

Hyderabad which was known as Baghyanagar was true to its name as it had many gardens built. Many of todays colonies & megastructures are built on the garden's that perished over a period of time. Today's Hyderabad has few prominant parks that are in existance like Indira Park, KBR Park, JVR Park, Sanjeeviah park etc to name a few.

The city has few monuments which still remaind of the rich history and herigage. The remains of Golconda Fort, Charminar, Qutubshahi Tombs, Falaknuma Palace, Chowmohallah Palace, Salar Jung Museum, Andhra Pradesh Assembly are few of the places of historical Importance.

The city has undergone tremendous development and has people from all walks of life who settled here. Its the most populated city in the state and under the new GHMC limits it stands only next to Delhi & NCR in terms of geographical area.

Hyderabad though turned cosmopolitan, has never let it rich culture and customs lean down. All traditional festivals are celebrated here with equal importance and people from all walks of life enjoy it letting barriers like religion, caste & creede apart.

The climate in Hyderabad can be defined as Hot Summers, Cold Winters and Floody Rains - waterlogs in the city give the feel of floods here. October to February is the best season to visit as it has pleasent day temperatures & reasonably cool nights.
